Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga now on the DS

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

What happens when you combine the greatest movie franchise with an iconic toy? The fusion of Star Wars and Lego came in form of a game the Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. This comes as a sequel to its failed predecessor Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. The most important aspect that needed a thorough revamp was the game engine. The developers have pushed and gone forward to incorporate incredible 3D effects.

For the first time all the six parts of the movie franchise have been integrated into one game. A total of 160 new characters have been added while the character customiser has been upgraded. The 3D works are great but the most significant features that take the game way beyond is its impressive sound and animation. Actual background score and sounds from the movie have been incorporated into the game. You can choose from six different episodes, each of them has five different levels. The lengthy Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga DS game only ends when you have collected every last red brick including the ones in the minigame, the stud (currency) and the minikit (to build vehicles). This new game features enhanced power ups, new challenge modes, revamped levels that have been built from scratch for the DS and a whole lot of Nintendo DS specific special touch-screen action and challenges. Two players can link locally to play the game in a co-op mode.

The new version has come a long way from the prequel and the brilliant new animation and graphics prove to be a major plus point for the game. An excellent game that dispels the murkiness of the earlier version and the multiple levels will provide long hours of gameplay.

Star Wars Will Rock in September

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

LucasArts plans to release the DS version of their new exciting videogame Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in September, 2008. LucasArts had earlier announced the launch for November, 2007, but then delayed it. We can expect this delay to be an indication of the effort LucasArts is putting into making this new Star Wars game a total success. If you assume it to be another 3D action game, believe me you will find it much more than just another addition to the Star Wars library in a 3D format.

The story lies between the climax and beginning of two movies, namely, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. As a player in this adventurous game, you will assume the role of a secret apprentice to Darth Vader, who wants to get rid of the entire universe. Use of the latest technology DMM (Digital Molecular Model) and Euphoria makes the game even more powerful.

If you find yourself thrilled with the idea of being a ‘secret apprentice’ to Vadar and exploring the Star Wars galaxy with an ‘Unleashed Force’, you just need to wait till the middle of September to load Star Wars: The Force Unleashed onto your Nintendo DS console.

The War of the Clones in Star Wars: Jedi Alliance E3 2008

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Dump all your old and mundane games from your Nintendo DS lite into the trashcan and load your gadgets with some thrilling new ones. That might be slightly drastic but with one look at LucasArts’ newest Star Wars game you will understand why we make this suggestion. Now you can play Star Wars The Clone Wars: Jedi alliance on your sturdy Nintendo DS-lite, when it is released later this year. This gameplay is an extension of its clone war series.

Nintendo DS players can pair up Jedi masters and Padawans to create their own model and customized Jedi teams. So Anakin Skywalker is able to fight alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ashoka Tano can together fight with Mace Windu. Not only can you pair them up, but you can also develop an incredible relationship between your two Jedis only to develop more powerful attacks and extraordinary capabilities. This is one of the game’s unique features that propell it over previous Star Wars titles, including Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Nintendo DS). The game has a host of missions that can be replayed with many different combinations. The mission will also give you opportunities to unlock new areas, collectibles and secrets, which will grant an entire rejuvenating experience.

Jedi Alliance also features “innovative-stylus-based input”, which facilitates fluid control of both the Jedi’s movements and lightsaber. The game’s action series can also be controlled by the use of touch screen. This wonderful game offers a two-player wireless mode. So now both you and your friend can get your adrenaline rush Star Wars style.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin DS Review

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

MewMichaelX7 reviews Advance Wars: Days of Ruin DS for the Nintendo DS Lite.  This is the follow up game to Advance Wars: Dual Strike DS.  In this version, they got rid of the old commanding officers, gave it a darker look and added wi-fi battles as well.  Overall he gives this and 86% and says it is an “awesome strategy game”.
