The Sims 2 - Pets (DS): Now your Sims have Pets

Friday, August 14th, 2009

For all those of you who have played Nintendogs on your Nintendo DS, playing The Sims 2 - Pets (DS) will certainly not be a gaming exercise. By now, many of you must have accustomed to grooming a pet, teaching him things and etiquettes and worse, cleaning up all the excretion scattered around. There is an array of directions that have to be delegated to the pet to make him/her understand that obeying all commands is a big requisite to smooth gaming. The gamer becomes a dedicated veterinary expert and also vaccinates the pet at times when he/she shows signs of sickness. The controls are very easy to operate and an object which you want your ‘Sim’ to go and fetch can be spotted at once. The pet also needs to be diagnosed at times when it shows signs of fatigue. Keeping your pet healthy is imperative and that is a task that the gamer has to religiously follow.

The Sims game is as good as the first edition and includes some variations to induce that excitement factor. The pets are their charming self and will really test your patience when they make you run around. All the gamer needs to show is some compassion towards the pets which will make them permanent loyalists. The sound in the Sims 2 - Pets (DS) is quite good and so are the graphics. Do not expect any slash action but only a subtle flow of emotions. The pricing of the game has been done very affordably which makes it one of the most buyable games in the market.

Freedom Wings: Fun Flight Sim on the DS

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

A fun flight simulator game which provides fans with a whole lot of exciting and interesting features is how Freedoms Wings can be described as. Due to the fact that this game is offered on the Nintendo DS and not on the PC, the action is more set around following a story and waiting for the right time to tap the screen.

This aspect makes the game quite easy to play which may be a blessing for some. However, the flight simulator enthusiasts may find this frustrating as they will surely be looking for some action. For example, almost everything that is supposed to be exciting and thrilling is automatic such as the landings and take offs, spotting and targeting opponent pirate aircraft, even the dog fighting. All you have to do is to tap the screen, sit back and relax.

Saving grace comes in the form of the manual mode with which you can fly your own aircraft. On the downside, the flight models are not very realistic. They go around chaotically and your plane is erratically thrown around in the sky. Freedom Wings DS, however, is not too bad though. The gameplay though simplistic is quite solid and comes with a good frame rate, realistic explosions and ground detail.

The game from developer Natsume also makes use of the DS Lite’s dual screen effectively throwing a lot of action and colour at the user. As a player you have to collect cash and points to upgrade your plane and this can be done by winning dogfights. You can also play this game with friends using the multi player single cartridge mode.

The Urbz: Sims in the City Are Waiting to Enter Your Territory

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

You must have heard of the GBA version of The Urbz: Sims in the City, haven’t you? The same adventurous and engaging Sims game is now available for your favourite handheld, the DS, and is waiting for you to discover its distinctiveness. The most appealing features of this amazingly interesting game include a set of eight mini-games, five virtual pets, as many as 26 locations and an exclusive Splicer Island.

The adventure role-playing game centers on an exciting gameplay that takes you to the city of Miniopolis, where you come across the denizens while striving to fulfill your ‘motives’. You can play as a boy or a girl and enjoy the freedom of customising your character however you please in the Urbz - Sims in the City. Enter the new life by naming your character…. move ahead with the tale that is based on a ‘rags-to-riches’ theme. As a virtual character you loose your menial job and your efforts to get it back creates a bigger trouble. Now, that’s how the fun begins. So you struggle to earn some bucks and even manage to do that after facing some real tough times. What next? Think what everyone needs live comfortable urban life. Yes, you are right (if you though it’s a home), your sim character needs a home. Hence, you buy an apartment and look forward to have a socially active lifestyle.

You develop your self image and do all that a person needs to do as an urbanite. The colored onscreen bars clearly demonstrate your target motives that can be reached by using the appropriate objects. Isn’t it much like the contemporary urban life? Well, the game is probably inspired from the never ending tasks of today’s life. Hence, you must take care to accomplish every motive before it goes too low.

So if the gameplay sounds good to you, load the game to your handheld to live a life in the sim’s style.

Your DS Life is Incomplete without these Games

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I love my DS Lite console and want to be happy with it forever. It gives me a whole new world of excitement, fantasy and heroism when I play some of the greatest titles to ever grace the handheld. In fact, the console is practically incomplete without some games.

I have tried a countless number of DS games, but only 12 of them have offered me some of the best times of my life. Those games include Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart DS, Sim City, Super Mario Bros, Sims 2 Castaway, Theme Park, Panzer Tactics, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Age of Empires, Anno 1701 and Civilization Revolution. Most DS fans are familiar with these titles. If not, then they should be.

All of these titles offer the perfect blend of simulation, graphics, animation, sound effects and story line. These games complete my DS world. Together they turn the DS Lite into a 360 degree entertainment pack that delivers lots of joy, dynamism and fun. You can race with fast-paced vehicles, conquer the bad guys, explore new civilizations, transform your city into a dream land, build a theme park for the little angels and compete in a variety of matches. This is my indispensable list, but why don’t you make your own and play through everything on it?
