Pokemon Ranger - Shadows Of Almia (DS) features Brand New Pokemon as well as Downloadable Missions

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The game Pokemon Ranger - Shadows Of Almia is based on a world famous Pokemon cartoon series. The game includes a number of cartoon characters that look nothing less than real. Different Pokemon have different powers which can be used accordingly. In this game you have to play as a ranger and rescue endangered or injured ones. You will have to help them and relocate them to a safer place. Each and every Pokemon is kept as long as they are needed and you will have to release them back after that.

You can easily befriend a Pokemon by using a device called Styler. This device actually lassos any Pokemon as it releases a beam of energy. You will have to scribble around a Pokemon in circles in order to capture them. There is a capture meter in Pokemon Ranger - Shadows of Almia (DS), which you will have to fill up by catching all sorts of Pokemon. You will have to keep filling the meter continuously otherwise it will start going down. But if the meter is full then it will provide resistance against attacks. Using this you can even catch the Pokemon’s easily as well. Filling the meter is not a big deal and you will be given a number of options to do so.

The graphics of the Pokemon Ranger - Shadows Of Almia are fantastic and will take your breath away. The controls of the Nintendo DS game are a bit difficult to learn and you will have to practise a lot. The Pokemon Ranger - Shadows Of Almia is a total value for money.

Pokemon reigns supreme: Pokemon Platinum for the DS

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Pokemon still reigns in the world of Nintendo games. Pokemon has arrived yet again with Pokemon Platinum in Japan. Pokemon along with Pearl’s and Diamond’s Sinnoh region and the galactic team have arrived yet again. Contrary to the older games, this game focuses on Giratina the Ghost/Dragon in the form of a demon caterpillar, as the new Pokemon. The focus is no longer on Palia and Dialga.

There are quite a few interesting character form additions in the Pokemon Platinum. For example, Rotom the electric ghost can now transform into a host of outdoor and household appliances. Fans should be delighted with the landmower Pokemon too. Interface is similar to the earlier Pokemon Pearl and Diamond version, though with new animation and sprites, sharper colours and attacks that have been fine tuned. Not all movement magic is left to Pokemon. Trainers come into the picture and get into the act before releasing the monsters into the battlefield.

Nintendo’s exciting new characters include Handsome the secret agent who claims to be elite. He is engaged in tacking and putting the team Galactic out of action. Sinnoh is now a cold place and characters are covered in winter clothing.

The most exciting addition to the game is of course the Torn World dungeon. This place is equipped with 3D elevators to enable the characters to move around. This creative dungeon with its trippy aesthetics is sure to provide nail biting thrill to players. Return of the Emerald Battle Frontier in Pokemon Platinum brings cheer to the fans. Players can have a lot of exciting fun finishing quests and moving on in this latest edition of the Pokemon series.

Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

One franchise that has managed to withstand the demands of the wear and tear of contemporary times is the Pokémon series. What stands out is the eagerness shown by the series to adjust itself to contemporary tastes and in the meantime it has also carried out subtle improvements here and there for a more satisfying gaming experience.

The Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia takes off in a similar manner like its predecessors as you have to select your name and sex. The theme of the game is centered on an academy for Pokémon Rangers, who for a change do not permanently capture creatures of their own unlike their traditional cousins. It also digresses a bit from the original version, as your preference for male or female characters doesn’t have any bearing on which Partner Pokémon you are given to start with.

The initial part introduces you to a tiresome tutorial process, which seems to go on for eternity making it a low point of the game. Moreover, this part is bereft of any excitement and is quite ironically supposed to acquaint you with the setting, which by default has nothing to do with the major part of the game!

Another mistake, a glaring one at that, which the makers made, is that they have refused to acknowledge the fact that the gamers have grown up. There is no doubt that Pokemon Ranger - Shadows of Almia is aimed at children and young adults, but even then the game would have been well off with a little bit more fluidity, especially considering that it has a lot of imaginative content to cover.

The game however becomes more interesting once the tutorial phase is over. The crux of the game is that, the player has to temporarily capture Pokémon so that he can exploit his (the Pokémon’s) capabilities to solve problems. These capabilities range from clearing burning logs in a forest fire or destroying machinery in a port to flying over a canyon, and play a pivotal role in the entire set up. You have to be at your very best to ensure that you have the right Pokémon for the right job, and also requires a great deal of careful management on your part.

Pokemon Battle Revolution on the DS Lite

Friday, June 27th, 2008

There is a new WiFi game to make full use of the DS Lite’s wireless connection; namely, Pokemon Battle Revolution. The game features eleven different colosseums in a new land, the Pokemon themed theme park called Poketopia. There are other visual effects also which enhances the overall look of the game.

The game has lifelike 3-D graphics which make it look like the Pokemons are actually physically hitting each other. The Pokemon series has really become something of a signature brand the DS Lite and the GBA before it. The game is only released on Nintendo consoles, typically handhelds, and has never been released for the computer or laptop. Of course Battle Revolution lives up to the series’ legacy and more. The moves and the attacks are diverse. Up to 16 players can play at the same time in one game. Players can fully customize their Pokemon trainer by selecting different hats, shirts, glasses, other items and even their characters skin color.

This version of the game holds two online game modes; Battle with a friend which allows a player to battle with a friend using its 12-digit friend code separate from the Wii’s code and Battle against a random opponent. There are various levels depending upon the difficulty. This game adds to the already long list of Pokemon classics available for the DS Lite, including Pokemon Pearl and Pokémon Ranger (Nintendo DS). All Pokemon fanatics are sure to eagerly devour another quality Pokemon title for the DS Lite.
