Rubik’s Puzzle World: Turn your Nintendo DS into a Rubik’s Cube

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

The original Rubik’s cube and another eight interesting puzzle games are offered in this wonderful package on the Nintendo DS called Rubik’s Puzzle World. A wonderful virtual version of the game, Rubik’s Cube comes in flagship versions of 4×4, 3×3 and 4×4 cubes to be solved. As the cube appears on the screen, you use the stylus to move the columns and rows.

Alternately the whole thing can be rotated in 3D space by moving the stylus over the empty area. The Rubik’s Puzzle World game can be started and your skill can be tested with the randomly mixed up cube or the pristine cube. The game offers certain patterns which you can try to solve too.

The seven mini games are entertaining and fun to play. In the game of Fit, there is a descending platform with holes. As a player you create large spaces within individual colored cubes and try to fit them into the holes. Enjoy playing the sliding puzzle game called Switch. Here you have to group cubes of the same colour. The main game as well as these two games is possible to be played wirelessly and with another player.

There is a platform full of enemies and obstacles through which you have to guide a cube in the interesting game of Roll. Colour is a unique game where you guide your cube across another structure of cubes to the exit point. In order to ensure safe passage, you have to match the color of the sides.

For those puzzle lovers, Rubik’s cube offers a wonderful and exciting collection of puzzle games.

Ultimate Puzzle Game: Professor Layton and the Curious Village Reviewed

Monday, March 31st, 2008

The video review by Gametrailers does an excellent job of running through this cute Japanese puzzle game. One of the Professor Layton and the Curious Village’s greatest strengths is how the puzzles are successfully interwoven within the story; so that it does not get monotonous simply playing one puzzle after another. The game might look cute, but don’t let that fool you as some the puzzles are both very difficult and extremely frustrating. All in all though, the game is a very enjoyable experience, while the animation and story keep it interesting. As far as puzzle titles go, this is one of the best available for the DS Lite. Enjoy the video.
