NBA 09: The Inside on the DS

Friday, February 13th, 2009

For all the folks who love to slam dunk, Sony Computer Entertainment offers this exhilarating basketball game for the DS. The game provides the necessary fun and entertainment for everybody from a hardcore slammer to a casual fan. The arcade on-court action is the main attraction of the game. There are few other National Basketball Association (NBA)-themed mini-games assisting the main game too. This makes sure to hold the interest of the player to every bit.

One of the most sought after mini-games is the “Away Game” pinball table. The features of the game coupled with the sound effects provide good reputation to the mini-game. Another enjoyable mini-game is the “Hot Shot!” The carnival area forms the main theme of this game. The game requires the player to shoot the basketball into a basket attached to a moving backboard.

The main five-on-five action offers only some of the limited controls. But the flow of the game is made very smooth and is really enjoyable in most of the part. The game is fast-paced and easy to move and play, while not quite as involved and in-depth as its competitor NBA Live 09. The dribble moves and the shot animations are reduced to perfection. The features of the game are well appreciated for its integrity. Good looking arenas, solid renderings by the players and the well done menus add credits to the game. The NBA 09: The Inside is not totally flawless, but the significance of the flaws is overweighed by the technical strengths and offers a great playing time to the user.
