DS vs DS Lite vs DSi

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Almost every handheld gaming fan knows about the Nintendo DS and DS Lite, and most gamers have tried both. The DS Lite is one of the hottest handheld gaming consoles with its dual screen play and large number of true to life games. The DS odyssey began with the coming of the original DS console, which was further enhanced and then named the DS Lite. Let’s have a look at the gap which the Nintendo DS has covered in terms of quality and performance. The DS Lite console was a great improvement in real terms.

Below are the significant modifications that were made to the original DS:

• DS Lite is 21 percent lighter than DS.
• DS Lite has got extended battery life.
• DS Lite is more rough and tough. It has got stronger top and durable LCD at the bottom.
• Brighter LCD, up to four level of brightness.
• DS Lite has got a longer stylus, and is compatible with more efficient accessories like the Madrics NDSL Stylus Pen Set, both of which make the DS Lite easier to operate than the standard DS.
• The new D-pad is 16% smaller than the DS pad.
• The Start and Select buttons are smaller and have been relocated.
• DS Lite has energy efficient processors.
• New design keeps the dust, dirt and other debris away from the console.

No doubt that the DS Lite is much more advanced than the original DS. It is just near to perfect. Of course, the upcoming and recently announced next generation DSi, could even make the DS Lite obsolete. But until that time, the DS Lite still stands for durability, performance, flexibility and value for money.

Play Guitar Hero on your DS Lite

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Nintendo DS Lite is an incredible combination of technology and entertainment. After reaching unparalleled heights of success on other consoles, the extremely popular Guitar Hero has now made its way to the DS Lite. Guitar Hero is a game which lets you play the guitar on screen just like a real guitar. It is controlled by a wraparound controller, which gets attached to the back of DS Lite from outside. This is done to make it feel like you are actually playing a real guitar. It also has a hand strap to make sure you don’t accidentally drop your prized DS Lite while playing.

The game has already had amazing success on the PS2, PS3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360. There were some concerns whether a handheld would be able to effectively implement the unique controlling system, but the DS Lite version easily quells any doubts. This wraparound attached to the DS Lite makes you hold it like a book. You hit the four frets with your left hand fingers while strumming the touchscreen on the right. It will practically feel as if you are really strumming on an actual guitar. However, because the buttons on the wraparound cannot be played with your right hand, any left handers will have to learn to play right handed or face disappointment. So play the music aloud, dance and feel like a rock star. Just don’t drop the DS Lite while you are hitting the notes.

Pokemon Battle Revolution on the DS Lite

Friday, June 27th, 2008

There is a new WiFi game to make full use of the DS Lite’s wireless connection; namely, Pokemon Battle Revolution. The game features eleven different colosseums in a new land, the Pokemon themed theme park called Poketopia. There are other visual effects also which enhances the overall look of the game.

The game has lifelike 3-D graphics which make it look like the Pokemons are actually physically hitting each other. The Pokemon series has really become something of a signature brand the DS Lite and the GBA before it. The game is only released on Nintendo consoles, typically handhelds, and has never been released for the computer or laptop. Of course Battle Revolution lives up to the series’ legacy and more. The moves and the attacks are diverse. Up to 16 players can play at the same time in one game. Players can fully customize their Pokemon trainer by selecting different hats, shirts, glasses, other items and even their characters skin color.

This version of the game holds two online game modes; Battle with a friend which allows a player to battle with a friend using its 12-digit friend code separate from the Wii’s code and Battle against a random opponent. There are various levels depending upon the difficulty. This game adds to the already long list of Pokemon classics available for the DS Lite, including Pokemon Pearl and Pokémon Ranger (Nintendo DS). All Pokemon fanatics are sure to eagerly devour another quality Pokemon title for the DS Lite.
