DS vs DS Lite vs DSi

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Almost every handheld gaming fan knows about the Nintendo DS and DS Lite, and most gamers have tried both. The DS Lite is one of the hottest handheld gaming consoles with its dual screen play and large number of true to life games. The DS odyssey began with the coming of the original DS console, which was further enhanced and then named the DS Lite. Let’s have a look at the gap which the Nintendo DS has covered in terms of quality and performance. The DS Lite console was a great improvement in real terms.

Below are the significant modifications that were made to the original DS:

• DS Lite is 21 percent lighter than DS.
• DS Lite has got extended battery life.
• DS Lite is more rough and tough. It has got stronger top and durable LCD at the bottom.
• Brighter LCD, up to four level of brightness.
• DS Lite has got a longer stylus, and is compatible with more efficient accessories like the Madrics NDSL Stylus Pen Set, both of which make the DS Lite easier to operate than the standard DS.
• The new D-pad is 16% smaller than the DS pad.
• The Start and Select buttons are smaller and have been relocated.
• DS Lite has energy efficient processors.
• New design keeps the dust, dirt and other debris away from the console.

No doubt that the DS Lite is much more advanced than the original DS. It is just near to perfect. Of course, the upcoming and recently announced next generation DSi, could even make the DS Lite obsolete. But until that time, the DS Lite still stands for durability, performance, flexibility and value for money.

Wanna go to Ninjatown?

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

SouthPeak games is ready to launch Ninjatown for the Nintendo DS in fall 2008. On one side of Ninjatown there is a towering active volcano, Mount Feroshi, and on the other side there is a dark mysterious forest, which houses several evils. This town will give you a feeling of any small town with small parks, houses and stores. Ninjas live peacefully and go about their daily activities such as napping and constant training to sharpen their martial art moves.

The goal of this strategic game is to build a number of different ninja units to keep the enemies at bay and stop them proceeding through the base. Before the enemies appear players should have a number of ninja units ready to combat the enemy before they exit the base. Each time the enemy is defeated the player wins cookies or currency which will be further used to build up and upgrade other ninjas. So the more enemies that are defeated, the more cookies are won. The overall strategy of the game is enhanced as the level progresses.

Some of the Ninjas are Wee Ninja, White Ninja, Anti Ninja, Master Ninja, Baby Ninja, wee Devil, Mr. Demon etc. Ninjas in Ninjatown are very cute looking characters that will certainly keep players amused.

Dragon Quest IV on the DS

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, is a terrific role-playing game that would make an excellent addition to your Nintendo DS games library. It is one of the most popular Square Enix’s franchise all set to be released for the DS screens. This RPG is split into five chapters of short stories which introduce new heroes and heroines as the story unfolds. Unlike other role playing games, this game will need a little bit of level grinding before you move between different locations.

Before beginning the adventure, players have to choose a male or a female character to play in the game. In the first story we meet Ragnar, an army captain in a palace, who has the responsibility of tracking down the missing children. In the next chapter we meet Princess Alena - a tomboy who refuses to stay within the castle. As the story progresses, Torneko, Maya and Meena will also be introduced. Each time a new storyline begins, players not only have to start over again where you will partly begin at level one but also need to work your way up through the storyline.

To upgrade your weapons in the game players have to save coins by saving the game and not letting your party get wiped out. Incredible straightforward fighting without any touch screen controls is another advantage of this bright and colorful game.

Friday, June 6th, 2008

The Nintendo DS Lite has been on the market since 2006 and recently surpassed the 51 million units sold worldwide benchmark. These sales statistics do not even include sales of the standard Nintendo DS. In commemoration of the DS Lite’s impressive sales feat, and its two year anniversary, we are revisiting some of the improvements the DS Lite made over its predecessor. Hopefully a retrospective look at these improvements will help us to predict what Nintendo might have in store for the next generation.

As the name suggest, the DS Lite is lighter than the Nintendo DS. Like its counterpart, it also comes in an array of colors. Its small and sleek design have made it very popular among other gaming consoles. The start and select buttons have been moved below the A/B/X/Y button group. The front of it has the volume on left side and the headphones on the right with the Game Boy advance slot in the middle. The stylus has been remodeled and it has a relocated power switch. The Game Boy Advance filler cart and stylus are located below Nintendo DS Lite. The brightness level as compared to Nintendo DS is higher. The instructions are written on the back of DS Lite. Various time and date settings can be made on one screen while you play on the other.

Nintendo DS Lite has been upgraded in a unique manner, which has given ample opportunity to its users. So, let us once again enjoy our favorite entertainment device and eagerly await what Nintendo has in store for us in the future.
