Anguna: Warriors of Virtue — A worthy Homebrew for your DS

Some Homebrews for the Nintendo DS lite never make it anywhere except for the developer’s portfolio. However, there are some that make it there, at least for a worthy honorable mention. Anguna has now made a few eye-brows go up and has certainly brought back the old school charm.

DSfanboy made a mention of it recently saying:

It’s not every day you get surprise homebrew releases like this! Anguna: Warriors of Virtue is a complete action-adventure game for the GBA, boasting five dungeons, unique enemies and bosses, and an expansive over world. Hidden rooms, secrets, and special weapons — bear traps, dynamite, and more — are scattered around Aguna. It’s all the work of a single programmer (with sprites provided by Chris Hildenbrand), Nathan Tolbert, who labored over the game as a hobby for the past three years.

While some games leave you spoilt by having told you every thing that you need to do in the game and also the specifics of game play, there are some — like Anguna: Warriors of virtue — that you will need to figure out everything while you play, much like an RPG.

Again from DSfanboy:

Very much inspired by the original The Legend of Zelda, Anguna is an old-school experience that doesn’t hold your hand whatsoever. Other than a few sentences to set the plot and a sword, you aren’t given much to work with. After you fight your way through the introduction dungeon, you’ll need to explore the over world for a while before figuring out where to head next.

Very much worth a try and an amazing homebrew to start your lazy days with. Play with quite some time on your hands, because it isn’t a just shoot-the-aliens game.
