Whats Cooking? with Jamie Oliver (DS) for any Aspiring Chefs

Friday, August 21st, 2009

What’s Cooking? With Jamie Oliver (DS) is totally off the track game that can be played in Nintendo DS. The game is developed by Atari and it is one of the most interactive games in a long time. The game is an interactive cookbook as well as a food preparation game. In the game you will find a number of 3 D kitchens and various recipes. It is a very interactive game which will slowly but surely grab your attention.

There are three different game modes available. Additionally there is a tutorial mode that will teach you how to prepare various dishes. The most interactive feature of the game is the voice commands by Jamie Oliver. You can also create and share your own recipes that make it even more interactive. In the Whats Cooking? with Jamie Oliver (DS) game you can perform many functions such as slicing, chopping, cutting, etc. There are various areas in the kitchen like fridge, oven, cutting board, mixing areas and stove that is easily accessible through icon list. The time advancement option doesn’t let you wait for the dish to cook instead it cooks the dish instantly. You can also organise the shopping list as per the requirement.

You can experiment with your own recipes and can also save them in the desired name. The cooking game has great sound effects and the music is good too. The game is the ultimate mixture of a cook book and a food preparation game. The game has reasonable graphics but the interactivity makes up for it.

Lost in Blue 3 (DS): The Next Chapter in the Lost in Blue Survival Series

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Lost in Blue 3 (DS) is the next chapter in the popular Lost in Blue series. It is a survival adventure series that castes you as a male or female character. The story starts as you have survived an unexplained sinking of the cruise ship and are now struck on an unmanned island. On that island you find another person who has survived the disaster. Now you have to keep each other alive till you are rescued or you manage to escape. As you go on two more characters will join which will help find a way out of the trap. Like the earlier lost in blue games this Nintendo DS game also requires a steady eye and four different status gauges.

The four different gauges include stamina, food, water and health. Every gauge finishes over time and each effect differently when it reaches zero. Hence the game requires total concentration as you need to search food, fresh water and collect other items. These items will help build tools using which you can start a fire or spear a fish. The best element of the Lost in Blue 3 (DS) game is the exploration of the island. The island is very dense and as you will discover shipwrecks, new food items, crocodiles and many other exciting things. You become the leader of the pack and everyone works according to your supervision. Each and every character will depend on you for food and water. If any one of the character dies then it is game over at the very moment.

The Konami game has a reasonable interface. Most of the minigames are taken from the previous versions of Lost in Blue. All in all a very interesting game to play when you want to enjoy the thrill of surviving on a lonely island.

Brain Challenge (DS): Get Smarter with your DS

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Usually fun and functionality do not run hand in hand. But the new Brain Challenge (DS) brain game has made this possible to some extent. It is a third party brain training game that puts your brain to the test in a wide variety of challenges. For starters, Brain Challenge has a Stress Training mode where you can play one or multiple brain tests while undergoing stressors at the same time. The brain game from Ubisoft Entertainment also offers unlockable bonus modes . These extra games help in promoting creativity and relaxation.

Brain Challenge offers five mini games to the players, each measuring an aspect of cognition: Logic, Math, Memory, Visual and Focus. The player is given a percentage at the end based on their performance. In addition to the things that you may have already seen in other brain games, the Brain Challenge (DS) brain game also includes some newer stuff. There are more than 30 games lying between the multiple modes. Most of which show up in the test, but it will take a number of weeks for the player to unlock them all in the training modes.

The most important aspect that designers included in this Nintendo DS game, and which was lacking in other similar games, is the ability to track the player’s progress. It keeps line charts to separately show the overall progress of the player and progress in each of the five areas. Brain Challenge gives the player a 3D rendered doctor who guides them through the game. This feature is quite different from the usual cartoony style adopted by most other games.
