WarioWare: Touched! Review For the DS

Friday, November 14th, 2008

In 2002, WarioWare: Mega Microgame on the Game Boy Advanced touched a new genre of rapid fire minigames. Traveling through the passage of time, WarioWare is now all ready for the Nintendo DS in the form of WarioWare: Touched!

The game relates to the same story concept that was used in the first game but implies a novel touch. You will play through some microgames one after one, without knowing about the next in the series. Every part will present a different set of rules and you will have to perform the simple task of performing the required act(s). Use your touchscreen, microphone to enjoy the games and have fun popping balloons and sometimes the air bubbles with the stylus. But is that the only activity? Not at all! You must drag the items, tap on the screen and draw lines to mention a few of all the tricks.

If you love adventure and find pleasure in facing the gaming challenges, Touched has some thing for you. The consecutive levels include some small but really exciting challenges that let you taste the thrill. It is actually like experiencing a new angle on the same concept. In the whole gaming environment, you will merely find it to be a straightforward play.

So add the WarioWare: Touched to your DS library and have some more fun!

National Geographic Panda: Have a Close Look at a Panda’s Lifestyle

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

You must have come across many panda toys that look cute and cuddly. If you like such soft toys, you are definitely going to love this DS game created by Namco Bandai. The National Geographic Panda is a part of Bandai’s animal-care bandwagon that allows you to learn about the real-life panda.

If you like baby animals, you can choose a cub otherwise you may look after a grown-up panda. Feeding the animal becomes even more interesting with the option of a handy-in game shop. See what your panda friend would like to eat (apples and bamboo shoots are generally their favorite) and buy that from the shop. The mini shop also has a stock of some delightful toys, which can please your little panda cub. All that makes the usual part of the game but the real-life panda stories are actually the cream of this game.

If you choose to go with a baby, you will get to learn about his early childhood habits and changes in his behavior. As he matures, more baby pandas will join in to double the fun. You can take your panda to the park and let him enjoy the tire-swing, sea-saw and other fun toys. Simple stylus controls are quite friendly and allow you to concentrate more on interacting with these cuddly animals.

We’d recommend getting National Geographic Panda for the DS and choosing your favorite panda to look after him in your own way while reading interesting stories and viewing amazing graphics and pics.

Roogoo: Fight off the Meemoos on the DS

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

If you think that matching the blocks is child’s play, then this new DS game will definitely make think twice. The addictive game Roogoo is actually not as simple as it appears to be. With its action and puzzle-based theme, the game is an ideal match for your handheld.

Developed by SpiderMonk Entertainment, the game requires you to stuff different coloured blocks into the appropriate wholes. The game includes the same cartoonish animation as the Legend of Zelda for the DS, or indeed many other DS games. So as you begin you come across many different shapes like that of a star, a square and a triangle as well. You depend on the L and R buttons to control the platforms as these shapes fall out. By successfully performing this task, you will be actually saving the planet Roo from the Meemoos that are too pesky to be dealt with. You have to go through multiple platforms, which is always not as smooth as you might expect in the beginning. Your blocks can heap up in between and moreover, the levels will become more complicated with progression.

In the advanced stages, you will come across a platform of five holes, which is more challenging than the one with three holes. If you play in the single player mode, you will have to go through 100 levels. However, if you wish to compete with other players, you must hone your skills to be a step ahead.

Adding more spice to the addictive gameplay, the charming music and vibrant colors will compel you to recreate the planet again and again.

Cradle of Rome: Build Your Roman Empire

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

You must already be familiar with the PC version of the Cradle of Rome, which was released last year. The three-style game has now made its way to your favourite handheld. So get ready to construct your Roman Empire in your own way.

The puzzle game developed by Cerasus Media allows the players to construct over 20 historical sites based on the five areas in the Ancient Rome. It is quite engrossing to collect all the material required for building castles: tools, wood, gold and a lot of creative thought. Choose from the five different eras and match the rows on the puzzle board. Your ability depends highly on the resources you gather. The more you collect; the better the output.

You can knock away one square at a time with the hammer, but to use the tool again you have to rebuilt it. You will get a new tool in every level, but you can carry the hammer to all the levels by saving it. Use a shield to clear the row and a star to clear the entire onscreen resource. If you are able to collect sufficient resources, you can convert the lonely land into a famous historical monument like the Temple of Venus.

No puzzle game is fun to play unless it involves a certain amount of difficulty. Hence, the multiple gameplay modes of Cradle of Rome Nintendo DS are made to test your talent in solving some interesting but tough puzzles. Load the game on your DS and fabricate a whole new empire with a new emperor, which is you!

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is the latest game of the Castlevania series on the DS Lite. After the success of Symphony of the Night, Konami was unable to feature innovation in the succeeding releases. However, Order of Ecclesia is designed with the objective and intent to revive the fading series.

The wide-ranging boss battles and the streamlined level designs are among the most appealing features of the platform genre. The backgrounds and musical score are immensely successful in creating an apprehensive mood that is essential for a battle. Moreover, the versatile combat system is enough for providing a rewarding experience.

The gamers play with the ultimate goal of killing a parasitical vampire, but they do not have an access to the legendary whip. This is because in Castlevania - Order of Ecclesia you play as Shanoa, who is not included in the Belmont clan. As such, you have to depend on an alternative resource: power from the bodies of foes. You steal this magic in the form of glyphs that can be transformed into weapons like swords and lances. Additionally, there are also some powerful spells to assist you in the battle of defeating Dracula. So you can navigate through the walls, use your batlike skills and the glyph system to overpower the evil.

If you are disappointed with the previous Castlevania games, you must not miss the Order of Ecclesia, as it will perk up your interest in the amusing series again

DS vs DS Lite vs DSi

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Almost every handheld gaming fan knows about the Nintendo DS and DS Lite, and most gamers have tried both. The DS Lite is one of the hottest handheld gaming consoles with its dual screen play and large number of true to life games. The DS odyssey began with the coming of the original DS console, which was further enhanced and then named the DS Lite. Let’s have a look at the gap which the Nintendo DS has covered in terms of quality and performance. The DS Lite console was a great improvement in real terms.

Below are the significant modifications that were made to the original DS:

• DS Lite is 21 percent lighter than DS.
• DS Lite has got extended battery life.
• DS Lite is more rough and tough. It has got stronger top and durable LCD at the bottom.
• Brighter LCD, up to four level of brightness.
• DS Lite has got a longer stylus, and is compatible with more efficient accessories like the Madrics NDSL Stylus Pen Set, both of which make the DS Lite easier to operate than the standard DS.
• The new D-pad is 16% smaller than the DS pad.
• The Start and Select buttons are smaller and have been relocated.
• DS Lite has energy efficient processors.
• New design keeps the dust, dirt and other debris away from the console.

No doubt that the DS Lite is much more advanced than the original DS. It is just near to perfect. Of course, the upcoming and recently announced next generation DSi, could even make the DS Lite obsolete. But until that time, the DS Lite still stands for durability, performance, flexibility and value for money.
