Sing, Tap and Have Great Fun with Rock Revolution

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

If you are still untouched by the craze of playing music games, then Rock Revolution, a new game by Konami, might finally win you over. Konami intends to bring back the rock rhythm games to various consoles including your favourite DS Lite.

A player can create his own melodies by using the stylus to play the instruments while inputting his voice through the DS microphone. To give you the feel and approach a real rock singer, Rock Revolution lets you play with drums, guitars and sing your heart out to match the rhythm. It is actually like getting a complete rock package in a video game. Moreover, an image of a guitar will accompany you onscreen when you are playing the instrument. Using the stylus, you can move the guitar to the inner circle for the guitarist to play it. In the case of a bass, you have to play any one of the four strings that horizontally appear across the screen.

Like a real-life story of a rock star, the game will let you taste success after putting in some hardwork. Your rock band begins in the basement of a friend’s house and slowly proceeds to the main stage. You will follow a list of some great tracks like “Detroit Rock City” and “Spoonman” as you progress through different levels. If you are too lazy to actually play the songs, you can enjoy them on the Rock Revolution Media Player.

A fine variety of songs and engrossing gameplay lets you spend some time in testing your musical skills, or live your own secret ambition.

Tomb Raider Underworld: Lara’s New Action Move

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

As an action protagonist, Lara Croft is one people’s favourite gaming characters. Lara is soon coming to DS Lite screens in her latest adventure: Tomb Raider Underworld. Set to be released in November, this game developed by Crystal dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive will feature Lara as an innovator. Dressed in a fitted wetsuit, Lara will use her powers to revel the secret of the Thorn’s Hammer.

Lara’s journey begins on the Mediterranean Sea floor, where she learns about the legendary Thorn’s Hammer. Once familiar with the truth that the enchanted weapon is not a myth, Lara begins her adventure. In order to succeed in Tomb Raider: Underworld, our dear Lara will have to face the tentacles of a kraken. This sea monster is there to shield the secret of the hammer and acts as the greatest obstruction in Lara’s cause. The players have huge spikes as a means to fight the demon. These big chunks of spikes can be dropped on the kraken’s head to drive him away.

Moving onto technicalities, the first thing to be mentioned is the ultimate graphical approach. Lara and other characters look very realistic. This improved vision is a result of the vertex shading and the contextual animation. Background and some new gadgets make the game even more likeable. The sonar map and the speedy motorcycle especially enhance the game’s appeal and assist Lara in her adventure

Test Your Brains with Pipe Mania

Friday, October 10th, 2008

I know you love to work-out in the gym but are you also interested in going for a brain-exercise tour? I am not talking about any brain-tonics or messy word puzzles, but about a fresh game on the Nintendo DS. Empire Interactive, a well-known publisher of entertainment software has developed and published this new fast-paced puzzle game for your DS screens. Designed to test your mental abilities, the game offers five different modes of play: world, arcade, multiplayer, bonus and classic. These modes will thoroughly test your skills while providing a great and visually pleasant entertainment for your eyes and brain.

The gameplay requires you to put down a set of pipes in a particular order on a grid. The trick here is to maintain the flow of the Flooze, which is a continuously flowing material. It is essential to avoid the having the Flooze overflow, while trying to keep the progressive run going. You’ll end up developing pretty fast thinking accompanied by even faster moving fingers. So, you must be quick and pro-active in performing the plumber’s job, without loosing the essence of coordination. Be ready to solve advanced and more complicated puzzles in the later stages of Pipe Mania (Nintendo DS), which might leave you breathless. The ultimate goal of this entire struggle is to build your own Island World. The players will enjoy the appealing visuals while navigating through the various levels based on seven themes.

Catch up with the craze of organising and managing the pipes, and use the play machines and the army characters to help you in your plumbing job. I can bet that this will be a great way to test your brain’s readiness and strength, while having fun.

Ignition Entertainment Brings Blue Dragon Plus to the DS

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Ignition Entertainment Ltd is recognised as a global developer and publisher of video games. This UTV enterprise is in the news nowadays for its latest move in acquiring rights for publishing Blue Dragon Plus for DS. This venture is a combined effort of Ignition Entertainment and AQ Interactive. The Blue Dragon Plus name needs little introduction as Cartoon Network viewers are already familiar with it.

After the success of a TV show in the U.S., Blue Dragon Plus will now entertain gamers with its exciting adventures directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi. It’s definitely not the first Cartoon Network show to see success in the gaming market, considering such hits as Ben 10 - Protector of Earth (Wii). The soundtracks by Nobuo Uematsu and characters designed by Akira Toriyama are also a great attraction. The story of the game centres around a boy called Shu, who has power over the phantom shadows. Dragon Plus features gameplay in which Shu and his friends come back to action a year after defeating Nene. The role-playing game brings a new challenge for our young protagonist: the specter of a dragon with three heads. As conveyed by Ignition, the game will offer a 30-hour solo player campaign and a complete motion video of more than an hour, which will enhance the overall thrill.

It seems like a great achievement for Ignition Entertainment, as well as AQ Interactive, in terms of a business deal. The President of Ignition, Ajay Chadha said, “Out-of-box thinking and effective marketing are the cornerstones of our success….” On the other hand, AQ Interactive is also pleased to work with Ignition. Tomoyuki Takechi, the CEO of the company calls it an “excellent partnership”.

Lock’s Quest: A Tower Defense Game

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Lock’s Quest on the DS is a stylus driven game, which is fast and easy to play. The interesting and engaging gameplay is good enough to grab your attention for hours. The game features a multiplayer mode and light role-playing elements.

Lock’s Quest focuses on a mysterious resource that is a great source of building defenses for the archineers. Unfortunately, the same source is also used by a wicked character, Lord Agony, for stimulating his minions. Our action hero forms a team with a wounded soldier to fight these minions, when they threaten his villagers. The young boy’s effort becomes more difficult when his sister, Emi is lost. Now, Lock begins his quest to find Emi and for this purpose, he makes use of his archineer abilities.

Although you may find the story to be less speedy in the beginning, it will never bore you with its sudden twists and interesting gameplay. Building and battling are the two main components of each section of the game, which enable you to design and defend structures. You have to build and protect your defenses in Lock’s Quest (Nintendo DS), which is easily done by dragging and organizing sections of the map. The build and battle phases are also quite action oriented. This part of the game offers you a lot of mission objectives to fulfill in a short time span. This is probably the most addictive feature of the game because you have to think, plan and act all at the same time.
