Mister Slime or Slimy

A green-headed giant with four arms, who is stuck doing odd jobs for the local tribal leader is a good way to describe this new game for the Nintendo DS called Mister Slime. Featuring a mucous- filled little hero called Slimy, it is sure to please action lovers. As a gamer of this 2D platform game, you will land as Slimy and navigate through all the levels drumming anchor points. As you touch each anchor, Slimy will widen an arm to capture it, propelling him to move ahead.

Beware of the dangers!

Action games obviously contain danger factors, which in this case comes in the shape of poisonous plants in this clever gameplay. However, Slimy is powerful enough to perform acts such as levitating and swimming, which allow him to navigate through all the prevailing dangers whilst making the play more daring for the players.

Mister Slime’s world is dotted with hazards such as wicked robots and flaming birds, which can be defeated with a headbutt. Furthermore, there are many more attractions for you like the ice world, for example, where you can warm up Slimy’s hands to defrost them and the spiders in the forest. However, the role of spiders is limited to spinning a web around you, to block you from behind.

Give it a try!

To experience the real powers of Slimy you need to give this engrossing Nintendo DS game a whirl. Apart from the thrill and adventure, you will need to have your wits about you, as this game has puzzle elements in it too.

Henry Hatsworth in his new Puzzling Adventures. DS EA 2009

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventures is a soon to be released puzzle game, from EA, that is sure to delight DS lite enthusiasts. It‘s an engrossing adventure, for game lovers who are tired of action themed games. The game is a fusion of action and puzzle which results in thought incitement and adventure.

Unlike other games, the game is divided into two platforms. In one pane is the action packed adventure of Henry Hatsworth who is a wise looking hero and wears a monocle. Henry is a professional treasure hunter who is out to find the puzzle world and lay his hands on the treasure that are hidden there. The second platform on the screen is the puzzle section.. The game makes use of both the platforms in a very interesting manner. The upper screen has the nuances of a standard action platforms with the similar kinds of obstacles, monsters and enemies. It also has a puzzle block that keeps bouncing each time Henry kills a monster and it falls down, a block from the puzzle section jumps up. If th block is able to touch the base of the upper level then it comes back to the action platform in the form of an even more aggressive monster.

The best way to tackle Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventures is to pause one realm while tackling the other. EA Tiburon assures DS lite enthusiasts that there will be thirty levels spanning through five exotic locations in the game when the game is released early 2009.

Wanna go to Ninjatown?

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

SouthPeak games is ready to launch Ninjatown for the Nintendo DS in fall 2008. On one side of Ninjatown there is a towering active volcano, Mount Feroshi, and on the other side there is a dark mysterious forest, which houses several evils. This town will give you a feeling of any small town with small parks, houses and stores. Ninjas live peacefully and go about their daily activities such as napping and constant training to sharpen their martial art moves.

The goal of this strategic game is to build a number of different ninja units to keep the enemies at bay and stop them proceeding through the base. Before the enemies appear players should have a number of ninja units ready to combat the enemy before they exit the base. Each time the enemy is defeated the player wins cookies or currency which will be further used to build up and upgrade other ninjas. So the more enemies that are defeated, the more cookies are won. The overall strategy of the game is enhanced as the level progresses.

Some of the Ninjas are Wee Ninja, White Ninja, Anti Ninja, Master Ninja, Baby Ninja, wee Devil, Mr. Demon etc. Ninjas in Ninjatown are very cute looking characters that will certainly keep players amused.

Dragon Quest IV on the DS

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, is a terrific role-playing game that would make an excellent addition to your Nintendo DS games library. It is one of the most popular Square Enix’s franchise all set to be released for the DS screens. This RPG is split into five chapters of short stories which introduce new heroes and heroines as the story unfolds. Unlike other role playing games, this game will need a little bit of level grinding before you move between different locations.

Before beginning the adventure, players have to choose a male or a female character to play in the game. In the first story we meet Ragnar, an army captain in a palace, who has the responsibility of tracking down the missing children. In the next chapter we meet Princess Alena - a tomboy who refuses to stay within the castle. As the story progresses, Torneko, Maya and Meena will also be introduced. Each time a new storyline begins, players not only have to start over again where you will partly begin at level one but also need to work your way up through the storyline.

To upgrade your weapons in the game players have to save coins by saving the game and not letting your party get wiped out. Incredible straightforward fighting without any touch screen controls is another advantage of this bright and colorful game.

Tornado is coming

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Imagine everything on this beautiful Earth, the people, animals, plants, buildings and just everything sucked up into another world. Don’t panic nothing would happen to you, it is just a game. This September Nintendo DS will get a new game, Tornado. In the game a malicious prince transports everything into another world by a mysterious black hole device. Now it’s up to you, one of the cosmic cleaners, to save everything and transport it back to your home planet by using gigantic tornados.

You’ll have to draw circles on your DS’s screen to start and maintain a tornado. The faster you draw, the more quickly your tornados would be built. At level one your tornados will start out and will have the power only to suck up trees or light poles. But if you keep sucking up objects, your tornado will go to the second level which will allow you to pick more heavy objects. As you increase your tornado level, new powers will come to you. Eventually you’ll be able to suck up everything from a tree to a huge building and there’ll be a level wherein your twin tornado will swallow everything on screen at once.

It seems Tornado will take the gaming world with a storm. Gamers will definitely want to keep an eye on it.

An Addictive Rhythm Game

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

The Nintendo DS has another game on the block, Rhythm Heaven, created by the Wario Ware franchise. It includes minigames that are played at a frantic pace, in conjunction with a great and deep musical experience.

The first minigames will require you to operate a catapult, while square blocks are rolling in front. When they reach the middle of the screen, you will need to shoot the log through them, and do so while following the beat of the square’s movement. It’s kind of similar to games like Guitar Hero: On Tour (Nintendo DS), though of course without the guitar. As you move further, the blocks vary their speed and eventually the screen goes completely black except for a small ray of light in the centre. That may sound a little difficult, but if you follow the beat appropriately, you can play the game with your eyes closed.

The other two minigames, in addition to the catapult game, are also very captivating. One has you using a fuel pump in a robot factory and the other one has you playing as a singer in a row of three people. The beguiling beat and the sheer challenge to line up the shots would keep you engrossed for a long time.

The Nintendo DS has not only replaced the button pushes with stylus controls, but it has also kept the pick-up-and-play nature intact. You might find Rhythm Heaven a wee tough, but believe you me it will keep you pleased. I, just like you, can’t wait until this hits shops sometime later this year.
