Race Driver: GRID

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Codemasters is one of those companies that has always raised the bar and never been satisfied with to rest on the laurels that they have earned in the past. With race Driver: Grid, the company successfully takes the franchise forward. The game has no complications and focuses on the journey between the starting grid and the checkered flag. There are heaps of licensed cars available through which the gamer gets to display his driving skills. The gamer’s objective is not to collect all the cars and upgrade them, but rather focused on some fast racing. The developers have given the game a very real look as if it has directly been brought out from “The Fast and The Furious”.

All the races that the driver participates in will happen in different continents. Races will commence irrespective of the racer’s involvement and the gamer is given the freedom to compete on the career path of his choice. The vehicles in Race Driver GRID (Nintendo DS) have a tendency to be easily destructible and the same goes for the environment. The game supports a maximum of 20 players who can play online and compete fiercely for the bragging rights.

So if you are a gamer looking for some thrills, go ahead and buy this one for your Nintendo DS Lite, as it promises to be full of speed and adrenaline. You are strictly advised to not miss out on this one if you have a thing for speed.

Star Wars Will Rock in September

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

LucasArts plans to release the DS version of their new exciting videogame Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in September, 2008. LucasArts had earlier announced the launch for November, 2007, but then delayed it. We can expect this delay to be an indication of the effort LucasArts is putting into making this new Star Wars game a total success. If you assume it to be another 3D action game, believe me you will find it much more than just another addition to the Star Wars library in a 3D format.

The story lies between the climax and beginning of two movies, namely, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. As a player in this adventurous game, you will assume the role of a secret apprentice to Darth Vader, who wants to get rid of the entire universe. Use of the latest technology DMM (Digital Molecular Model) and Euphoria makes the game even more powerful.

If you find yourself thrilled with the idea of being a ‘secret apprentice’ to Vadar and exploring the Star Wars galaxy with an ‘Unleashed Force’, you just need to wait till the middle of September to load Star Wars: The Force Unleashed onto your Nintendo DS console.

Sonic is in Action Again

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

If you are one of the many Sonic fans, then you will love to see him in action again in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. This role- playing game developed by BioWare will let you enjoy exploration and combat at the same time, allowing you to first control the character and later fight the battles.

The story’s plot is built around the kidnapping of Knuckles and disappearance of the Chaos Emeralds. The story begins with Tails informing Sonic about the whole act when Sonic is enjoying a vacation. In the first act of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, the team tries to save Master Emerald while in Sonic’s world. Sonic comes with his team in the second act stepping out into a new area in order to save their world from a new threat. As a Sonic fan you will enjoy collecting the rings around the Green Hill Zone once again and the same kind of music will also give you the same old feel of the typical Sonic games. Army and the other characters will definitely attract you initially but if you want to explore new ones later, you can go for the side quests option to know about more about the new characters and their story.

Quick moving characters like Sonic will be allowed to select three actions in a turn which will increase the speed of the struggle. So if you want to experience the thrill of being Sonic while marauders to free Knuckles and save Chaos Emeralds, or if you are a Sonic fan, then this game is for you.

Let’s Experiment in the Lab!

Friday, July 25th, 2008

I know you hated those perplexed chemical equations in your science classes and doing labs, but if you haven’t tried your hands on experimenting with anything since, then you should at least take a look at the Nintendo DS Lite Monster Lab game. Eidos has come out with ‘Monster lab’, a title which is a true blend of RPG and fighting genre. In this game you play the role of a novice scientist who lives in a bizarre valley but who creates a monster that is then set out into the world to combat against other evil monsters who have taken over the land.

These evil monsters are an amalgamation of three major sciences- evil robotics, evil biology and evil alchemy. As you gain experience by eliminating other monsters and stealing their parts in Monster Lab (Nintendo DS), you’ll get to learn all of the three sciences. You may mix and match head, arms, legs, torso or any part of the body to make your own monster. You are transported to the combat mode the moment you touch your enemy or vice-versa on the underworld map.

If the monster gets hurt then you can go back to the lab at any point of time and fix your monster. Monster fights are done in a quite extraordinary manner. Add this game to your pre-existing wealth of games when it gets released later this year.

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Known for developing the role playing series ‘Shin Megami Tensei’, Atlus is now going to unleash its new exciting game, Master of the Monster Lair, for the Nintendo DS Lite. This game will soon be released later this year. The goal of the game is to build your dungeon to attract monsters and then ultimately trap and hunt those monsters. In the game you play the role of a young man who lives in a kingdom rife in terror as the monsters rampage around the land filling their hungry stomachs with people.

You quickly encounter a talking Shovel in the game that takes you on a heroic path. Yes, a talking shovel will recruit you to build indoor dungeons to lure and trap the roving monsters that are creating nuisances in the town. To construct the dungeon there are 20 dissimilar rooms which include chapels, dojos, cellars, stables, fireplaces, trash dumps and plenty more. You can later explore the rooms while killing monsters for weapons and other important things. Each room attracts different kinds of monsters with different kinds of objects.

You can show your power packed performance and hot moves to the monsters and fight against them in a turn-based mode. Although based on monsters, the game will definitely have to struggle to create the same success of Monster Hunter: Freedom 2 for the PSP. The game’s distinctive dungeon-customization system and Wi-Fi functionality offer a truly unique monster fighting experience.

Monday, July 21st, 2008

The wait is over. The hulk is coming to your DS Lite. Nintendo DS Lite users can now download and play one of the most awaited games this year: The Incredible Hulk based on the famous movie by the same name. Bruce Banner was a scientist when he was affected by doses of gamma radiation and he transforms into a beast – the Hulk. He then escapes to the city where he is chased by some soldiers and the unending hide and seek begins, which only ends when you complete and beat each level as the Hulk.

There are many missions to be completed through out the game. The DS Lite version is slightly different than the Incredible Hulk (Wii) version, although the graphics still manage to be outstanding. In the game you smash through buildings, have underwater fights or use vaults to hurl yourself forward. You will act like a true Hulk when you push, punch, kick and fight with your enemies. Just like Mario you can even jump on your enemies head to kill him.

The marvelously designed levels provide for a large amount of in game variety. The game has been animated wonderfully with sharp controls. Feel like a hulk and get ready for the package of challenges but do remember to take some health drinks with you.
